GARDEN PESTS
One of the best deterrents for ants is tanacetum vulgare, or tansy. Plant it around any area where there are ants or as a barrier. It can also be dried, crushed and used as an ant powder.
Create tubes around seedlings you want to protect from slugs by using the inner of a loo roll or anything similar.
Various things can be diluted with water to create your own insect spray. The simplest is washing up liquid, which used sparingly will deter the insects without damaging your plants.
Keep spraying red spider mites with ice-cold water and they will eventually go away.
To reduce the risk of whitefly in your greenhouse, place a few pots of basil in it.
