HERBS

Many herbs can be grown in containers and will also look decorative.

Don't add too much fertilizer to herbs as this stimulates growth in all parts of the plant, especially the leaves, and reduces the taste.

Seed some of your herbs for the following season by picking them and storing them somewhere dark and dry, rather than buying new ones.

Adding sweet cecily to rhubarb when you are cooking it will reduce the amount of sugar you need. One or two leaves of the herb will be sufficient.

As well as only harvesting what you need, pick herbs in the morning, as early as possible, when they have the most aroma in their leaves for cooking.
