Shrubs
SHRUBS
Keep newly planted shrubs or trees at their recommended spacing to avoid having to fix problems later caused by them growing too close together. You can always fill the initial gaps with less expensive plants or flowers to reduce wastage if anything has to be removed at a later stage.
Use shrubs to blur boundaries, for example by covering walls or divisions with your neighbour's garden, or to hide areas that are unsightly or difficult to utilise usefully.
Shrubs come in all shapes and sizes. Research what you need and you will find one to suit any purpose.
Do not buy shrubs that look like they have been pruned in a strange way as they may have had problems.
When planting a new shrub, dig a square hole and the bigger the better. A square hole rather than a round one gives the roots more scope for bedding in properly.
